Background: 

A native of Jackson, GA, Mr. Jones serves as the CEO of Jones Petroleum and JP Capital & Insurance, Inc. Mr. Jones founded Jones Petroleum in 1968 with the purchase of a single convenient store. Through dedication and sacrifice, Mr. Jones has built Jones Petroleum into a diversified company with over 350 employees. Mr. Jones entrepreneurial spirit has expanded the breadth of his company’s reach into several industry sectors. Jones Petroleum serves as a full line fuels wholesale distributor and retailer, as well as operating & leasing convenient stores and grocery stores. Other company interests include propane and real estate.

Mr. Jones’ varied interests are impressive. It is evident that he has never ceased to explore an opportunity that interested him, whether in business or civil service. Mr. Jones served four terms in the Georgia General Assembly and is the youngest professional in Georgia to ever become Superintendent of Schools. He also served as the original chairman of the Butts County Water & Sewage Department, as well as the Industrial Development Authority of Butts County.

Mr. Jones is married to the former Miss Martha Saunders of Jackson, GA. They have three children: Bryan, Natalie, and Burt. Mr. Jones enjoys spending time with his family, attending UGA football games, and keeping an eye on the current political environment.
